The Grounds
The Cape Cod Function Room |
The Coonamessett Inn comprises five separate buildings (a fifth was added in
the 1950s to house military personnel during the Korean War) . The main
building, the former Jones residence, boasts three distinct dining rooms where
some 150 wedding receptions are held every year. The remaining buildings house
guest rooms and suites.
The new spectacular Cape Cod function room, is now open. A premier and
elegant room featuring beautiful brass chandeliers, and Colonial dining room
furniture. Offering full bar service and an expansive dance floor. Decorated
with Cape Cod charm and warmth that the Coonamessett Inn has always featured.
This will be an expansive room with a perfect view of the Coonamessett grounds
and overlooking Jones Pond. Accomodating a sit-down reception or dining for up
to 300 guests. Station receptions can also be held for larger groups. Outdoor
Ceremonies can be held on our landscaped greens and enchanting gazebo for every
bride's needs.
The Cahoon Room is perhaps the most famous of
the three dining areas. Named for Ralph Cahoon, a renowned local Folk artist,
the room features 18 Cahoon paintings. Many of which, in turn, feature the Inn
itself. High vaulted and beamed ceilings give the Cahoon Room dramatic appeal
while the traditional country decor in hues of hunter green and mauve lend a
certain warmth and comfort. The focal point of the room is the overhead
lighting fixtures which are magnificent hot air balloons crafted of brass and
copper. The balloons reflect another key theme in Cahoon's work and add
considerable visual interest to the space.
The dining areas and main lobby are connected by a glass-enclosed breeze way
which serves as a glorious year-round garden. Seasonal flowers indoor mirror
plantings in the garden just beyond the glass: daffodils and crocus' burst into
color in the breezeway in springtime, hydrangea and Queen Anne's lace bloom in
the summer. Christmas decorations change yearly: last year six different
regional trees lined the breezeway, each trimmed with a different theme, from
Americana to fruit, while a breathtaking tree in the main lobby sparkled with
75 live orchids.
Site, grounds, food and service harmonize to produce an extraordinary
experience for all those who encounter The Coonamessett Inn. Just ask Marlo
Thomas and Phil Donahue, Billy Joel, Carly Simon and others who retreat to the
Inn for it's fine cuisine, comfort and quietude.
"The most important thing that I want to impart to couples is that the level
of personal service at The Coonamessett Inn is extraordinary. Every couple
wants to do something unique and different and we work hand in hand with them
to ensure that they accomplish everything they hope for on their special
day."
